What counts?

In order to be considered a novel, a work of fiction has to be over 75,000 words in length. That’s an average of six university dissertations or every word you speak for seven days straight. While some writers find it hard to scrape through the 75,000 word mark, others, such as Marcel Proust and L. Ron Hubbard, find it hard to stop.

Today, the draft of my novel has a word count of 74,514.
